About Amii
Amii Stewart is a Disco Icon best known for her #1 Platinum-Selling Billboard Hot 100 Hit, "Knock On Wood." In 1980, she was nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female. So far in her career, Amii has released 15+ studio albums (including close to 50 singles), with three International #1s, and 31 International Top 40 Hits.
Amii Stewart's love of entertaining was ignited at the early age of nine years old when she first started learning to dance. Her passion propelled her to receive a scholarship to the prestigious School of Fine Arts, in Washington, D.C.
Her remarkable talent was easily recognized and led to casting in Broadway companies. Concurrently, she cultivated an innate vocal talent. Within a couple of years, she sat atop the charts both domestically and internationally, in 1979, with her hit song, "Knock on Wood" - selling over 8MM records.
The decades following, Amii enjoyed a crescendo of successes in front of appreciative audiences as she performed all over the world. Some of her touring highlights include Tasto Matto, Fantastico 97 The Festival, Sanremo Festival 1993 and 1994 and 2007 editions, Mina Contro Battisti, and La Pista, to name a few.
Amii's singing/songwriting highlights include: Bud Spencer’s Extralarge and Once You Fall In Love; the TV series The Daughter Of The Maharajah; “Temptation” for the TV film Il Barone; and “A Song For You” for the soap opera Zingara. She also sang the title song “Saharan Dream” written by M° Ennio Morricone for the film Secrets of the Sahara, which led to the highly acclaimed album Amii Stewart Sings Ennio Morricone.
Amii Stewart graced the stage in notable theatrical roles such as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar with Carl Anderson; The Terrible and Dreadful Tale of the Prince of Venosa and the Lovely Maria composed and directed by M° Salvatore Sciarrino; the leading female role in the modern opera Romanza, written by M° Sergio Rendine for the Rome Opera; Creator, Performer, Co-Author, Co-Producer of the musical Lady Day - The Life of Billie Holiday; Shakespeare In Jazz with M° Giorgio Albertazzi; and La Pietà written and directed by M° Nicola Piovani and text written by Vincenzo Cerami.
Amii's eclectic and outstanding career is still thriving today. In celebration of her new image - including a full-head tattoo - Amii co-wrote and released a new Single/Music Video entitled “Perfectly Beautiful.” 2024 finds Amii on new adventures: she launched her own merchandise, The Amii Stewart Signature Line, spent the summer touring with symphonic orchestras, and is currently recording a new smooth jazz/R&B album entitled BACK TO MY ROOTS. The first single "Friends (Amii’s Version)" was released in September and the second single "Love Ain’t No Toy (Amii’s Version)" is out now...
